Roger Gomez – President of World Express Inc.
Mr. Gomez started in the transportation business in 1963 learning the Custom House Brokerage business. He received his broker’s license in 13 months. He learned all phases of the import/export business: shipping, agency services, charters, air freight.
After working for a small firm, he started his own business in March 1969 calling it Gomez & Co., incorporating it as Gomez & Co., Inc. in 1971, and in 1973 changing the name to World Express, Inc. During that time he obtained licenses from the following agencies:
- Federal Maritime Commission
- I.C.C. Treasury Department
- International Air Transport Association
Over the years World Express Inc. has given seminars on various international trade subjects. Mr. Gomez was invited to be a keynote speaker at various trade forums: World Trade Organization in Boston, Mass., The Seacoast Traffic Club, to name a few. World Express was one of the first freight companies to participate in U.S. Customs ABI Program in 1978. World Express was also at the forefront of computerization in the transport business. Roger Gomez has traveled the far corners of the world, exchanging ideas and generating new business. He maintains an extensive worldwide network of professional contacts in freight forwarding, transport and trade.
